How to drink wine (and you thought you knew...)
I found these 8 tips for how to properly drink wine on one of my favorite blogs. Thought this was appropriate to share with all the holiday parties coming up!
1. Fill red wine glasses 1/3 full, white wine glasses 1/2 full, and sparkling wine 3/4 full.
2. Twist the bottle at the end of pouring a glass of wine, to prevent drips (and to give it a flourish!).
3. Cheers! When clinking...

Κατώγι & Στροφιλιά ΑΕ | Wineries and Vineyards :... →
The Yiniets vineyards are Greece’s highest; clinging to the slopes of Mount Pindus in an area where the seasons have a rhythm of their own, the vines mature slowly. Yiniets, which means ‘vineyard’ in the local Vlach dialect, is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Traminer. The grapes are usually harvested in early to mid October; it’s as though Dionysus, the god...

China's Wine Imports
This morning, while munching through breakfast in the Carafe and Flagon, I was poring over the business section of China Daily (as one does) and noticed that China is on track to import 26 million cases of wine by the end of the year. Museum afraid to open ancient Roman wine. →
“Scientists want to study samples of the world’s oldest wine, currently on display at the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in the western German city of Speyer. There’s just one problem: everyone’s afraid to open the bottle. The glass bottle, thought to be at least 1,650 years old, was found in a Roman grave near Speyer in 1867 and put on display at the museum. Since then, it’s been handled...

Wine History: Veuve Clicquot and the Rise of...
sparklersandoakbombs:
There aren’t too many topics I enjoy chatting about more than wine, but France, international politics, and powerhouse women are right up there.
Veuve Clicquot, or the Widow Clicquot in English, is the trifecta, and as she is the matriarch of one of the most renowned Champagne houses in history, she fits the wine bill as well. After her husband Francois passed away,...
